  • Everyone's so upset about what's going on on my normal and functional space ship.

Excellent you can join ranks with that one doctor who this story made late for surgery

  • #same#started reading suddenly it was 5 fucking am

Read about my normal and functional spaceship to absolutely destroy your sleep schedule

  • This happened to me with their (now finished) serial novel Curse Words, and then their (currently unfinished) story Charlie MacNamara, Galactic Ace when I caught up to Curse Words while it was still in progress.

Simply put, it’s just a thing that happens when it comes to reading Derin’s stories.

  • I've been reliably informed by many, many readers that these stories are specifically crack for ADHD people who usually have difficulty reading and I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. That's such a random demographic.

    Look it happens

  • #cannot start reading it is already Late

Do you have to do surgery tomorrow? No? Then how bad could it be to start reading.

  • #me watching horror movies: noooo why would you open the door covered in warnings not to do that!#me reading thos blog post: I should start reading time to orbit

You should do it, nothing will go wrong. You are the master of your sleep schedule and will get plenty of rest. It'll be fine.

  • consider the sperm whale and the squid. an ancient rivalry that dates back millions of years. we know the whales eat the squids. we know the squids do not make it easy for them. we know this because of the scars the whales carry, scars on the outside of their body, and on the inside as well. how badly must you want something to endure wounds inside your mouth? inside your gut?

consider the whale, who is harmed by what sustains her. consider the squid, whose flesh is soft and delicious but refuses to go down easy.

  • This post is about lactose intolerance I can smell it.

  • I love that he apparently got the job because he looked so pathetic that children truly believed he would be unable to solve puzzles created by a cartoon dog without their assistance.

  • kids really said “i can fix him”

  • AO3 down? Craving your blorbos? Why not fill in the time by making some new blorbos on a perfectly normal and functional spaceship.

  • We gotta leave AO3 alone until it throws off the attack. Go lose yourself in a very clear and entirely sensible online story for a bit. It is also free (this is a true statement, you don’t have to pay for it) and will distract you from the blorbos you can’t read about now (this is mostly true, as it will multiply your blorbos).

(It’d tell you not to stay up late reading it but if you’re missing AO3 then it’s too late for that.)

  • AO3 back? Reconnected with your blorbos? Why not celebrate with some new blorbos on a perfectly normal and functional spaceship.

  • Hello friends please take a look at this fantastic piece of original sci-fi fiction about a totally normal and functional spaceship. I am 23 chapters in and OBSESSED. It is literally so hard to put down. If you have a love/hate relationship with Murphy's Law and find yourself curious about all the quirks of deep space travel do yourself a favour and follow the link above.

  • By talos this can’t be happeneing

  • A woman whose epilepsy was greatly improved by an experimental brain implant was devastated when, just two years after getting it, she was forced to have it removed due to the company that made it going bankrupt.

  • Specifically, because she couldn't afford to buy the implant from the company. They basically took her implant back to recoup their losses. This is what happens when you privatize healthcare and health research. The group providing her with this implant should not have been able to go bankrupt in the first place, let alone repossess her implant to pay off their debts.

  • This is what disabled people mean when we say that cyberpunk horror is just a reality for us. This woman was literally forced to undergo a surgery because she couldn't pay to keep the implant already inside her brain. How long till companies start repossessing pacemakers and transplants?

  • Senpai says you’re welcome

  • Reblogging again because I just realized that if I had this advice in high school I would’ve never made a tumblr account.

  • Also works for most of those news sites like WSJ or NYT that only let you read a little bit, or block adblockers. Also some disable the scroll bar but if you go to the right side of the console after hitting F12 and look for the CSS element “overflow” and change it from “hidden” to “visible” then you can continue scrolling for free. Might have to click around on different parts of the page to find it, but it should work.

  • There’s also a Firefox/Chrome extension called Behind The Overlay that does all that with one mouse click. Used it for years; what a time saver.

And if you encounter a true paywall, use Archive.Today to bypass it. Just paste the paywalled url into the blue “search archived snapshots” box near the bottom:
